Book Cover Challenge- Personal Passion Project
A friend wrote The Calling of My Soul, and I challenged myself to make a new cover for it. The one requirement she gave me was that it has a blue butterfly on it somewhere. The book navigates from her innocent childhood through her abusive adulthood, and I thought it would be interesting to highlight a child following the path of an illuminated blue butterfly.
This was the published book's cover, and knowing her personality, I felt it needed more to represent her accurately.

The front cover intentionally provokes curious, innocent, and haunted feelings, with darkness and an ominous blue overall color. But where is this ray of light coming from? The child holds a sunflower and walks alone down an illuminated path, following the blue butterfly. But you may fail to see a shadow man deep in the background, placed just above her head and to the right. Who is this man watching her?
